The event has a minimum safety equipment list that should be carried by the contestant, the event organisers have the right to request that the contestant makes themselves available for random equipment checks.
⚠️The contestant will have a limited time prior to race start to rectify any short falls or be disqualified from the competition.

Parking & free Shuttle bus

🚗🅿️Parking is available at the Polarrinne Parking area, located close to the event center. Participants staying at Pyhätunturi are encouraged to walk or bike to the event area due to limited parking options.

🚌 A free shuttle bus will run between the parking area and the event center on Friday evening and Saturday.

🚌You can conveniently reach the event by public bus from Rovaniemi. Timetables and prices can be found here.

Bib pick up & Event center

  • Participant materials will be handed out at the event office in the Hotel Pyhätunturi Conference Center.
  • The event village at the event center will be open on Friday and Saturday.
  • There is a storage facility for your gear at the event office in the event center. Storage is at your own risk.

On the NUTS Pyhä routes, you will run on gravel paths, boardwalks, stairs, soft ski track bases, cart paths, technical trails on the slopes of fells, traditional Lappish footpaths, and finally a soft ski slope to the finish line.

🚩The route is marked frequently and carefully with mainly orange flag sticks placed in the ground (see photos) and blue-white arrow signs, so staying on the running route does not require orienteering skills.

Mandatory equipment must be carried from start to finish. Event staff may conduct random equipment checks during the race.


Optional gear that can bring comfort and usefulness even on a short hike:

  • Mosquito repellent
  • Salt – very good aid in case of stomach problems
  • Blister patches, sports tape
  • Toilet paper
  • Shell jacket (windproof will do but having a shell jacket will help if it rains)
  • Poles / telescopic sticks – If you decide to use, they are to be carried throughout the whole race.

⛺️ There are 3 aid stations on the route:

  • Karhunjuomalampi (all distances)
  • Huttuloma wilderness hut (43km and 21km), closes at 3:30 PM.
  • Latvavaara (43km)

On the marathon course, you will pass the Huttuloma and Karhunjuomalampi aid stations both on the way out and back, having for a total of 5 aid opportunities.

On the half marathon course, you will pass the Karhunjuomalampi aid station both on the way out and back, having for a total of 3 aid opportunities. Aid stations are marked on the route map.

🛠️”PARTIALLY SELF-SUPPORTED – Competition

The competition is “partially self-supported.” Participants carry their own food and drinks needed between aid stations.

⚠️External support is only allowed at official aid stations (Karhunjuomalampi, Huttuloma, Latvavaara).

At the aid stations, runners can refill their drink supplies and eat the available snacks mentioned above. You can also load snacks into a cup and munch on them while gaining momentum for the next stage. You can receive additional food supplies from your own support team – but only at the official aid stations. Remember to check the Trail Running Etiquettebefore the event!

🍌AID STATIONS SUPPLIES (SNACKS & DRINKS)

At the aid stations, water and NOSHT sports drink are available. Please note that there are no cups at the aid stations—only pitchers, which you can use to fill your own cup, bottle, or hydration bladder. Do not drink directly from the pitchers! The water is intended for drinking only, not for pouring over yourself.

In addition to drinks, the aid stations offer:

  • Chocolate
  • Tasty chips
  • Herkkumaa pickles
  • Bananas
  • Mandarins
  • Sea salt

NOTE: The selection of items varies between aid stations.

Regulations

❤️‍🩹 EMERGENCY & PROBLEM SITUATIONS ON THE COURSE
If an accident, lack of energy, or any other issue prevents you from continuing, call the race emergency number: +358 40 6605 281.
In case of a serious accident, call the general emergency number 112 first to request help. After that, inform the organizers by calling +358 40 6605 281.

📱 MOBILE PHONE IS A MANDATORY ITEM
You must carry a mobile phone in case for any help (for you or for fellow runners). Race organiser can also call you to ask for help for other runners or to check your status. Even tough everything is OK with you when emergency duty number calls – please answer!

The type of all the races is semi autonomy. The regulations are based on the common etiquette of Buff Trail Tour Finland and Ultra Trail Tour Finland. You’ll find more information about semi autonomy regulations in English e.g. at the site of UTMB®.

⛔️ DNF & EVACUATION
If you need to withdraw, inform the race control. In the event of a serious accident, first call the general emergency number 112 to request help. After that, contact the organizers at +358 40 6605 281.

NOTE: Littering (inc. biodegradable fruit peels) can cause a time penalty or a disqualifying – depending on the disrespect of the action. Please be careful and don’t drop any waste into our precious nature!

🤕 COMMON RUNNING ISSUES
The most common issues during the race include: chafing and blisters, injuries caused by falls, dehydration & exhaustion due to lack of energy

🚿 Showers & 🔥 Sauna: After the run, washing facilities are available at Pyhä Tunturi Hotel on Saturday starting from 11:30. You can use the showers and sauna free of charge by showing your race bib at the reception. Sauna in use from 11:30 to 18:30, and showers available all day.

🍽️ After Race meal: At the finish line, after your run, you can replenish your energy with a meat or lentil/vegetable soup, with a vegan option available. As a salty snack, chips are also provided at the finish line. All snacks are lactose-free and gluten-free.

🏆 The award ceremony will take place on Saturday evening at 17:30
