Mandatory equipment must be carried from start to finish. Event staff may conduct random equipment checks during the race.
Optional gear that can bring comfort and usefulness even on a short hike:
- Mosquito repellent
- Salt – very good aid in case of stomach problems
- Blister patches, sports tape
- Toilet paper
- Shell jacket (windproof will do but having a shell jacket will help if it rains)
- Poles / telescopic sticks – If you decide to use, they are to be carried throughout the whole race.
⛺️ There are 3 aid stations on the route:
- Karhunjuomalampi (all distances)
- Huttuloma wilderness hut (43km and 21km), closes at 3:30 PM.
- Latvavaara (43km)
On the marathon course, you will pass the Huttuloma and Karhunjuomalampi aid stations both on the way out and back, having for a total of 5 aid opportunities.
On the half marathon course, you will pass the Karhunjuomalampi aid station both on the way out and back, having for a total of 3 aid opportunities. Aid stations are marked on the route map.
🛠️”PARTIALLY SELF-SUPPORTED – Competition
The competition is “partially self-supported.” Participants carry their own food and drinks needed between aid stations.
⚠️External support is only allowed at official aid stations (Karhunjuomalampi, Huttuloma, Latvavaara).
At the aid stations, runners can refill their drink supplies and eat the available snacks mentioned above. You can also load snacks into a cup and munch on them while gaining momentum for the next stage. You can receive additional food supplies from your own support team – but only at the official aid stations. Remember to check the Trail Running Etiquettebefore the event!
🍌 AID STATION REFRESHMENTS
At the aid stations, water and NOSHT sports drinks are available. Please note that there are no cups at the stations—use the jugs to fill your own cup, bottle, or hydration pack. Do not drink directly from the jugs! Water is for drinking only, not for pouring over yourself. In addition to drinks, the aid stations offer: chocolate, tasty chips, pickles from Herkkumaa, bananas, mandarins, and sea salt.
Note: Offerings may vary between aid stations.
♻️ Waste disposal: Trash bins are available at the aid stations. All waste generated during the event must be brought to the aid stations or the finish line bins.
Remember to brief your supporter before the event
If a guardian or supporter will be accompanying you, please make sure to brief them in advance on where they are allowed to assist you during the event and how they can access the aid station. Closer to the event, we will publish a dedicated information card for guardians and supporters, which will be easy to share with your own support person.
The organization’s only official channels for communicating with guardians and supporters are the event website and social media channels. Therefore, we kindly ask you to also act as an active communicator and ensure that your guardian or supporter receives the event instructions and the latest updates.
Cheering is allowed — and even encouraged!
In trail running, cheering is an important part of the event atmosphere. Encouragement heard along the course can give a runner exactly the extra boost needed on a long distance. A smile, applause, a shout of encouragement, or even a sign along the route can make a runner’s day much better.
Supporters are warmly welcome to follow the race and help create a positive atmosphere. Please remember to cheer safely: give runners enough space to pass, cheer from safe locations, and follow the organizers’ instructions.
Thank you for helping make the event memorable for everyone!
How do I get to an aid station?

Typical running issues include chafing, blisters, injuries from falls, dehydration, and fatigue due to energy depletion. In cold conditions, the risk of hypothermia increases. Be prepared to take care of yourself along the route. Trail running also involves helping others in need—if a fellow runner seems to struggle, check on their condition and endurance.
Remember to hydrate thoroughly at the finish line with sports drinks, juice, or water! Nausea may occur in the sauna—move to a cooler area, lie down, and elevate your legs. Alcohol is not recommended for post-run hydration.
