On the half marathon course, you will pass the Karhunjuomalampi aid station both on the way out and back, having for a total of 3 aid opportunities. Aid stations are marked on the route map.
The aid stations provide water and Squeezy sports drink (gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan). There are no cups at the aid stations, but there are jugs to fill your own cup, bottle, or hydration reservoir. Do not drink directly from the jugs! Water is for drinking only, not for pouring on yourself. In addition to drinks, the aid stations offers chocolate (Fazer Blue), delicious Oikia chips, pickles, sea salt, and bananas. For special diets, if Fazer Blue is not suitable, there is also Brunberg lactose-free milk chocolate. Oikia chips are available in lactose-free and gluten-free options, containing only potatoes, vegetable oils, and salt.
At the finish line, after the race, you can replenish your energy reserves with a delicious soup from Feelia, which is also available in a vegan option. As a salty addition, there are chips at the finish line aswell. The snacks are lactose-free and gluten-free.
There are trash bins at the aid stations. All waste generated during the event must be brought to the aid stations or the finish line bins. The competition is “partially self-supported.” Participants carry their own food and drinks needed between aid stations. External support is only allowed at official aid stations (Karhunjuomalampi, Huttuloma, Latvavaara). At the aid stations, runners can refill their drink supplies and eat the available snacks mentioned above. You can also load snacks into a cup and munch on them while gaining momentum for the next stage. You can receive additional food supplies from your own support team – but only at the official aid stations. Remember to check the Trail Running Etiquette before the event!
Regulations
The type of all the races is semi autonomy. The regulations are based on the common etiquette of Buff Trail Tour Finland and Ultra Trail Tour Finland. You’ll find more information about semi autonomy regulations in English e.g. at the site of UTMB®.
NOTE: Littering (inc. biodegradable fruit peels) can cause a time penalty or a disqualifying – depending on the disrespect of the action. Please be careful and don’t drop any waste into our precious nature!
